News: Are You Ready?
posted: May 2, 2011

Ready Super Heroes swooped in Tuesday morning at Cline Elementary to perform a traveling children's show featuring Ready Super Heroes named Mac Planner, Kit Builder and Stu. The three superheroes entertained and educated Cline students with a 15-minute performance including an original song at the end. Students were encouraged to pay attention, have fun, and shout it out when asked to participate.
“Super heroes empower our youngsters by giving them the three basic tools for emergency preparedness” according to Principal Debbie Smith. “They help our students learn to: 1) make a plan; 2) build a kit; and 3) stay informed.  Our youngsters are capable of taking this home to their families and assuring that their families know the basics when it comes to disaster preparedness.”
Assistant principal Barry Clifford adds, “We attend regular safety and emergency planning meetings throughout the year and we do everything we can as administrators to assure the safety of our students. Super Heroes help us to remove the fear of disasters and replace it with a feeling of empowerment for our students.  Our youngsters are then able to help their families by assuring that they take the proper steps in preparing for emergencies or disasters.”
This program was offered to us as a free service by the by the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Public Safety & Homeland Security, Community Preparedness Programs Coordinator on the School Ready Program.
