Friendswood Junior High School Principal Dana Drew wanted good artwork to adorn the walls in the Main Office of the campus that opened its doors this year in FISD.  He mentioned it to his art teachers and asked them to submit student work that would be judged with a winner singled out for the wall.
           The teachers submitted approximately 40 pieces to be judged. The judging committee individually judged all pieces and selected three finalists.
           The winner was then selected; art by Molly Chen.
           The work was purchased with parent approval from the young artist and Drew is now having it professionally framed before hanging it in its new location.
           The success of the process has made it to be an annual competition each year.
