The fall, 2010, session of Friendswood Community Education classes held at Friendswood High School will begin Tuesday, September 28, and Thursday, September 30, with new classes starting throughout October and early November.
All classes are available to residents of Friendswood and communities throughout the Bay area. Most classes take place at Friendswood High School, 702 Greenbriar, between the hours of 6:30 and 9:30 pm.
Classes that start in September include Beginning Ballroom/Swing Dancing, Beginning Conversational Spanish, Beginning Country Two-Step Dancing, Quick Intro to MS Windows computer class, Harvest Bounty (a Thanksgiving themed art project), and Living Well with Aromatherapy.
Karate started September 16 in the old Friendswood Junior High School cafeteria, 402 Laurel Drive, with new students accepted during the first three weeks of class.
October classes include Basics of Sewing in a Bag (beginning sewing class), Buying or Selling a Home, computer classes Quick Intro to MS Word and Quick Intro to Excel, Conversational Spanish for Advanced Beginners, Decorative Fabric Design, Designer Gift Bags (making all occasion gift bags), Gently’s Defensive Driving (may be taken any time online for insurance discounts and ticket dismissals), Instant Guitar for Hopelessly Busy Adults & Teens, Kitchen Gardening, Seasons’ Greetings (a holiday themed art project), and the first session of Taxes & Investment Performance.
Classes starting in November are Designer Gift Bags (the holiday gift bag-making class), Junky-Funky Beads ‘N Wire (a jewelry making class in which you will learn how to crochet with wire and beads), the second session of Taxes & Investment Performance, and a one-night seminar called Writing & Publishing Your First Book.
Due to the FISD Community Education “Green Initiative” only a limited number of “hard copies” of the current course listings are available at the Friendswood Public Library, FISD Administration main building, and the Community Education office.
