FHS Band Director Gregory Dick, is one of 10 high school teachers, selected from nominees across the state of Texas to receive the prestigious Texas Exes Awards for Outstanding Teachers.
           Dick will be honored on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Texas Exes Awards for Outstanding Teachers Banquet on the UT Austin campus. President Bill Powers hosts this event and will present to him a check for $2,250 and a specially commissioned award sculpture.
           As part of the awards program, Dick will be invited to attend the two-day Conference on Texas Excellence in Education on February 23-24 which precedes the Awards Dinner.   This is an all-expenses paid package deal including travel, hotel accommodations and meals.  
           At the conference, the honoree will meet former award recipients, his fellow honorees, UT faculty, future teachers and champions in education.
            FHS teachers  Kathy Powdrell and Cheryl Ryne are former recipients of the prestigious award.
