The FHS chapter of Business Professionals of America competed at regional competition at Dobie High School in Pasadena ISD January 28. The students brought home 31 awards.
The group will be going to the state competition in Dallas on February 29–March 3.
The students who placed in the top three categories and advance include the following:
First place honors were given to Kayla Taylor in Fundamental Accounting; Brittany Cumming in Payroll Accounting category; Madison Bowen in Fundamental Word Processing; Shanika Silva in Prepared Speech and three teams competing in two different categories.
In Web Site Design the first place team consisted of Doug Coppock, Christina Peck, Ananth Iyer and Tim Seiter.
In the Video ProductionTeam, first place members were Nathan Gregg, Alex Gilbert and Ricky Miller.
The first place Parliamentarian Team included Jim Bockmon, Lisa Harrington, Dylon Dickens and Jose Rodriguez.
Second place winners included Lisa Harrington in Fundamental Keyboarding, DeDe White in Medical Office Procedures, and Jim Bockmon in Extemporaneous Speech.
Third place winners were Christina Peck in Database Applications, John Wilkinson in Entrepreneurship, and Tim Seiter in Fundamental Web Design. Many of the students participated in open event tests and were awarded medals for their knowledge. |
