News: Historical Society makes Donation to FHS groups
posted: November 21, 2011

The FHS Student Council accepted a $2000 donation from the Friendswood Historical Society for their leadership in the first Historween event.  The Student Council teamed up with the Historical Society to plan and run the event.   Also helping from the High School was the Interact Club, PALs, The Recycling Club, the Honor Society, and the Drum Line. The Student Council will be donating some of the money to each of those groups.
The first, and hopefully annual, Historween combined a haunted house the naturally scary Old Junior High, historical re-enactments at the Perry House Musuem, an after dark tour of the cemetery with some of the inhabitants coming to life to tell their story, and finishing with a hay ride back to the start.   The event was wildly successful with nearly 400 people attending.  Key to the success of the event was the leadership and efforts from the FHS groups participating.
From left to right, accepting the donation for the Student Council were Blair Martin, and Maggie Love; presenting the check for the Friendswood Historical Society were Mel Measeles, Steve Rockey, Joyce Baker, and Ann Whitaker
