News: 16 at FHS named Commended by National Merit

          The 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program announced its Commended Student list for Friendswood High School. FHS has16 Commended students.
            The Commended students include James W. Brookshire, Rachel M. Cragin, Elisabeth N. Del Toro, Daniel Y. Du, Shahin Firouzbakht, Michael J. Gregory, Rachel Kane, Natasha Kaur, Mathias C. Kibikas, Hailey Lutz, Athanasios A. Metaxas, Scott R. Morse, Tejas B. Roysam, Corey A. Smith, Brittany N. Ward, and Caleb A. Wimer.
            Commended students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.
            In the nation, only 34,000 high performers are being named Commended students by the National Merit Scholarship program.
            Although they will not continue in the 2012 competition for National Merit Scholarships, Commended students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
