School Board Meeting Date Change
The November board meeting originally scheduled for Nov. 11 will be held Thursday, Nov. 13 in order to canvas the votes from the School Board election Nov. 4, 2008 and to swear in new board members.

Vet DayWorld War I ended on November 11, 1918. On the same date three years later an unknown soldier from that war was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. November 11 eventually became the date when America honors all who have served the United States in war.
Varsity Volleyball Playoffs
  The Varsity Volleyball team have advanced to the Regional Quarterfinal game by defeating the Houston Austin Mustangs in straight sets: 25-8, 25-6, 25-9. 
  They will play Richmond Foster, TONIGHT at 6 pm at Fort Bend ISD's Wheeler Fieldhouse.

   State and federal laws set the rules within which all school districts in the state of Texas are expected to operate when investing public funds. The Public Funds Investment Act, codified at Chapter 2256 of the Texas Government Code provides investment authority to nearly all political subdivisions of the state, including school districts.

All-Region Choir members announced
  Following auditions at Dawson High School recently, 19 girls from Friendswood High School Choir advanced to the pre-area round of auditions for the All-State Choir, and earned places in the All-Region Choir at the same time.

Coat Drive Coat drive for K-5 Ike victims
  Gently used and new coats are needed for students in K-5 grades hit by Ike in the area. Friendswood High School wants to help and needs community assistance.

CC Teams places third
   The FHS boys cross country team placed third at the Regional Meet and qualified for the state meet at Round Rock this weekend.  
   The team was lead by Medalist Brandon Swindler who was named third place and Matt Ellis in fourth place.
   It was a total team effort, according to Coach Steve Haffelder.
   The other members that made this accomplishment possible were James Gregory, Carl Ellis, Dustin Swindler, R.J. Lowery, and Ben Cuadra.  The alternates are Matt Craig, Michael Goodwin, and Marshall Frieden.

FJH band places at Regionals
    Several honors were brought home to Friendswood Junior High band students after competing in the Texas Music Educator's Association (TMEA) Region 17 All-Region Band tryouts recently.
    From FJH, 86 students competed in the tryouts.  FJH had 24 students make District Band, 31 students make Region Band.  Four students placed high enough to make one of 24 spots in the All Region Orchestra and four students made first chair overall.

The FHS Band is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a 2009 Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle.  Only 1,500 tickets will be sold; tickets are $50 and can be purchased by downloading this form and sending your payment to the Harley Raffle Coordinator who will send you your ticket.
