FHS to present Great Expectations in October Cast selected, rehearsals begun
Great Expections is the fall production by the Friendswood High School Drama Department under the direction of Kathy Powdrell. The production will be presented October 9 and 11 at 7 pm and October 12 for a matinee at 2:30 pm in the FHS auditorium. Great Expectations, a novel by Charles Dickens, is the story of a man's life: Pip takes us from his earliest days living as an orphan in a Kenti village with his sister and her husband to adulthood. Time and experience make him a wiser, kinder and less selfish man. The moral element of the story is balanced by rich, dark humor and vividly drawn characters. The story was first published (in 1860-61) in weekly installments, one or two chapters at a time. It was then reissued in volumes. This production that will be presented by FHS was premiered by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford - upon - Avon Christmas, 2005. The FHS production has been cast.

Calling ALL Dandy Dads and Marvelous Moms Traffic control volunteers needed at Cline
More Dandy Dads and Marvelous Moms are needed to help direct the flow of morning traffic at Cline Elementary. The school has successfully developed a program that has volunteer parents and grandparents assist with traffic control and providing a positive, cheerful welcome to each car rider each school day. Starting with Dandy Dads (and Granddads) only, the program has expanded to include Marvelous Moms and Grandmoms. Volunteers can sign up to help one morning a week or even once a month. The effort is minimal but the payoff and the appreciation that each will receive will be enormous, according to Principal Debbie Smith. Volunteers are needed from 7:10 am till around 7:50 am. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has questions or is ready to sign up today, please contact Tony Gangitano at tonyg@roncarter.com or call 281-413-5598.
