Early Dismissal Scheduled for FHS
On March 26, 2009, FHS will have an early release time of 1:15 pm due to hosting the UIL District Academic Contest on our campus. The buses will run on the early schedule for HS students. A class bell schedule will be available in March.

SSTSSuper Sci Tech a success
   More than 500 sixth, seventh and eighth grade girls from five different school districts explored careers in math, science and technology last Saturday at University of Houston- Clear Lake.
   Girls from Friendswood ISD, Dickinson ISD, LaPorte ISD, Galveston ISD and Clear Creek ISD were part of the program that had them enjoying a wide range of speakers.

Jim HillHill (Class of '61) to be honored as a Distinguished Alum
   Caring for others and the community is such a big part of Jim Hill's life.
   It has molded who he is and what he believes.
   He will be honored as one of six Distinguished Alumni by the Friendswood ISD Education Foundation at their annual fundraiser March 7. The True Blue Evening honoring the six will take place at Space Center Houston in the Astronaut's Gallery.

German Club FHS German students qualify for state
  The Friendswood German Program won first place Small School Sweepstakes for the second consecutive year recently. 
   The regional German competition was attended by 668 students from 23 area schools.  Qualifying for the State Competition on Feb. 28 were 36 Friendswood students.

   The Friendswood High School Band recently participated in Solo & Ensemble Contest. Students learned a solo and played in a small ensemble of up to eight musicians. The students were judged for the musicality, accuracy, and presentation.

Mustang Swim Teams Win District 24-4A Championship Meet
   The Mustangs won their eighth straight District Swimming title and the Lady Mustangs won their tenth straight District Swimming title at the District 24 4A Championship meet Feb. 6 at the Texas City Natatorium. 
   Leading the way with four Gold Medals each were Seniors Cole Cragin and Caroline McElhany and Junior Melissa Watson.

Cypress Woods Programming Competition
    FHS Programming students  placed in the Cypress Woods Programming Contest held last Saturday morning. These were all Novice students competing. This was a great accomplishment since there were 50 novice teams competing as well as 150 test takers. Friendswood was the only 4A school that placed at this meet; the others were all big 5A schools.
     In Team programming, Adam Coleman, Winston Wu, and Kevin Correll placed first. Ryan Ham and Kyle Murphy placed sixth. Joe Rogers and Noah Kessler placed eighth.
    In the individual written test, Adam Coleman placed third with Noah Kessler sixth and Winston Wu seventh.

Winter GuardFHS Winter Guard makes history
  Friendswood High School Varsity Winter Guard made FISD history when they earned the top rating in Scholastic A Division at the Houston WGI Regional at Klein Forest High School.

(TEXAS CITY) - College of the Mainland's Collegiate High School will hold a parent information night Thursday, February 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Teaching Auditorium (LRC-131) at COM.
