The Friendswood Wrestling Team did an outstanding job at the district
meet recently. Alec Wirt and Stacey Wheeler made it to regionals, and
Chris Gillespie will be going as an alternate. Coach is Ted Thomas.

Early Dismissal Scheduled for FHS
On March 26, 2009, Friendswood High School will have an early release
time of 1:15 pm due to hosting the UIL District Academic Contest on the
campus. The buses will run on the early schedule for HS students. A
class bell schedule will be available in March.

7 FHS athletes sign letters of intent Seven
students signed letters of intent from Friendswood High School on
National Letter of Intent Signing Day Feb. 4. The event was held at 9
am at the Walter Wilson Fieldhouse on campus. Network news coverage as

1967, Speck has served his community and his nation representing others
and thinking first of others' welfare. After graduating summa cum laude from Abilene Christian University in

Just4Kids picks FHS, FJH, Bales, WS
Just for the Kids has selected four schools from Friendswood ISD as 2008 Just for the Kids Higher Performing Schools in Texas. Friendswood High School, Junior High, Windsong Intermediate and Bales Intermediate were chosen for this honor.

Friendswood Jr. High Schwans fundraiser
Friendswood Junior High
School is excited to announce a Schwans Truckload sales event to help
continue to raise money for their school.
Schwans
will have a truck at 402 Laurel Dr. Friendswood TX from 2 to 8 pm on
February 19, 2009, which is also the time of FJH PTO night meeting. A
Schwans representative will be available to give the products and take
payment.

Lacrosse wins over Fort Bend
Friendswood Varsity Lacrosse upset visiting Fort Bend 15-8. The game featured balanced scoring from five different players. Jon Kirk, Senior Attackman, was the game's high scorer with 6 goals and 2 assists followed by Corey Page, Junior Attackman, with 4 goals and 1 assist. Joe Kenney, Junior Attackman, had 2 goals with 2 assists. Danny Modesett, Junior Midfielder, had 2 goals with 2 assists. Patrick Westhoven, Senior Midfielder, had 1 goal. Sophomore Goalie Chase Stanford recorded 21 saves on 29 shots on goal for an unprecedented save percentage of 72 percent. Junior Varsity also won 5-4. The Mustangs next game is away at Klein on Wednesday Feb 18. Mustang Head Lacrosse Coach is Steven Kirk.

Golf Teams Wins
The FHS Varsity Girls Golf team has been on a roll lately, according to Coach John Hext. Recently, the girls placed second out of 19 teams at the Katy High tournament at Falcon Point. There were many 5A teams at this tournament, and FHS Varsity Girls Golf beat all but one. The girls won the Clear Brook tournament at Timber Creek recently, setting the "as far back as anybody can remember" scoring record for the team. Katie Henry, Katherine Wankowski, and Taylor Kaufman also shot their lowest tournament scores ever. Team members include Allison Flake, Madison Phillips, Katie Henry, Katherine Wankowski, Paige Lemon, Paige Phillips, Lauren Hendershot, Miranda Mejstedt, Kolby Duke, and Taylor Kaufman.

FJH places first at UIL Academic Meet
While hosting the UIL Academic Meet at Friendswood Junior High Feb. 7, the FISD campus won first place in both Seventh Grade Team and Eighth Grade Team as well as being named First Place District Champions. Many individual trophies and medals were earned. |
