News: 2 FHS students win honors in Annual Bus Safety Speech Contest

Two FHS students won honors in the 8th Annual School Bus Safety Speech Contest held April 17 in Waco. The theme was Big, Yellow & Built to Protect; Safety Features of My School Bus.

In the ninth grade category of the speech contest, Johnathan Moore was awarded third place representing Region IV. He received a $250 savings bond.

Kristi Board, a sophomore, was awarded second place for Region IV and received a $500 savings bond.

The Texas Association for Pupil Transportation hosted the 8th annual event.

At the contest, 42 contestants from across the state competed in the contest at the Region XII Education Service Center in Waco.

The 42 contestants represented the 45 winners selected from the 83 students from 28 school districts who participated in speech contests conducted by 13 of the 20 Regional Education Service Centers.

Each of the 45 regional winners received a $100 saving bond for advancing from their regional contest to this state competition.
