Culture Shapers is an organization sponsored by Houston businessmen to provide an incentive for art students to spend their time doing artwork and other worthwhile things with their time, according to FHS art teacher Jan Nemitz.
This concept was developed after the tragedy at Columbine High School in Colorado.
“It has grown and developed into a wonderful art competition,” Nemitz said.
There are seven categories in the contest and after artwork is submitted, the top 10 pieces are announced. The top 10 from each category are invited to Westfield High School for an award ceremony.
Oefelein’s work was in the top 10 final in the category of drawing. His final award was announced and he won $250 for being in the top 10.
“He did a great job and is to be commended for making it to the top 10 out of 243 entries. Bud did a great job and we are proud of his efforts,” Nemitz said. |
