News: Friendswood High School Band Freshmen Set Record

FHS Freshmen in the Band set a new high school record recently in the Region 17 Freshman All-Region Band auditions that were held at Alvin High School.

Friendswood had 26 students earning positions in the Freshman All-Region Band almost doubling the next closest competitor. This was the most freshman from any school 4A or 5A earning positions in the band and set a new FHS record.

Region 17 is comprised of all of the high schools in both Brazoria and Galveston Counties.

The students practiced music for three months in preparation for this competition.

Students earning Freshman Region Honors include Traci Bordelon, Kyle Wiley, Emily Sharp (1st chair oboe), Laura Bradley (1st chair clarinet), Christina Peck, Meghan Vickery, Diandra White, Taylor Williams, Joe Brownfield (1st chair bassoon), Chelsea Coleman, Ben Clements (1st chair alto sax), Michael Polak, Michael Johnson, Jeremy Bass, David Zurawski (1st chair bari sax), Kelsey Long, Brandon Goddard, Emily Woods, Erik Honore (1st chair trombone), Zach Zimmerman, Ethan Hart, Shelby Stephens, Jonah Strickland, Taylor Watson, Blake Desiere, and Joey Mains.

Directors of the Friendswood High School Band are Greg Dick, Aaron Brown, and Julio Sanchez.
