The event, held at UH-CL will take place Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009.
The planning committee has created a fun-filled day for girls, including hands-on workshops that range from how to build a rocket to how to save a life; inspirational messages from women who excelled in career fields from Astrology to Zoology.
Approximately 1000 girls will attend.
Registration will begin Dec. 10 online. Students wanting to attend should sign up as quickly as possible in order to get the workshops they select to attend.
Cost is $15 for the day from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. The day includes keynote address, three workshops, breakfast, lunch, a tee shirt and a goodie bag.
"This is a great opportunity for our young girls to really explore career choices by seeing and hearing from women who are in those jobs," FISD Superintendent Trish Hanks said. "We hope FISD girls will take advantage of this great opportunity and attend."
Students in FISD will hear more about the conference through their science classes. A video is also available for viewing. |
