This organization encourages children to participate in approved after school activities, including academic and sports clubs, scouting, and church groups.
By meeting activity requirements in after school activities during the fall semester, children benefit from positive role models and mentors and eventually earn their brand new Elves & More bicycle.
“We know it is a busy time of year and it can be stressful too, but we also wanted to give our students an opportunity to give back to the community,” Bockart said.
The organization needed help putting the bicycles together, so they could award them to deserving children. Students came to Reliant Arena to put the bikes together.
It was actually a family affair, many students brought the entire family to the event to pitch in and help. Students worked as bike assemblers. This included tasks such as assembling bikes, airing up tires, assembling helmets and seats, and performing safety checks.
It was a blast, according to those students who attended. All had a great time! Who knew giving and serving could be such fun! All agreed it was a great way to spend a December day! |
