Ayers has been writing since she was a child. When she was 10 years old she decided she would like to be a writer or an artist when she grew up. Like most writers though, she held other jobs while continuing to write whenever she could find the time.
Currently, she is working in a public library, where she gets to select the latest and greatest children's books for the library collection. Prior to that she was a school librarian and teacher. She has also been a bookmobile librarian, the co-owner of a family operated plant nursery, a secretary, a salesperson for educational toys, and a waitress. Through it all she has continued to write.
Like all writers, Ayers loves to read. She especially likes time travel stories. One day she was peering in the window of a cluttered but charming antique shop. Unfortunately it was closed, and of course that made her want to go inside even more than if it had been open. And as so often happens with writers of fiction, a story began to grow inside her head. And it grew and it grew and it grew.
Her interest in antique shops and spinning wheels coupled with her vivid imagination led her to write The Time Bridge Travelers. And just like young readers, she had to know more about where the Wilson kids would go on their next journey in time. There are now three books in the series, with the first two available as serial stories with the Newspapers in Education program. Contact Laid-Back West to learn more. |
