The event, a True Blue Evening, takes place March 7 at Space Center Houston in the Astronaut’s Gallery.
Ballard graduated from Friendswood High School in 1971 and from Texas A&M University in 1975. While attending Friendswood schools, Ballard distinguished himself as an outstanding athlete and a true leader. He received All-District and All-State honors in football, basketball and track. In 2002, Ballard was placed in the Friendswood High School Athletic Hall of Honor.
He began working with O’Farrell Realty in 1976 and is currently in his 33rd year in the organization. He married Janet Giles and they have celebrated 32 years together. The two have three children: Melissa with husband Matthew and son Landon, Bradley with wife Nicole and Jeffrey with wife Rachael.
Ballard has served as a partner in Benton Blank Interests Real Estate Development Company and has developed 195 single-family residential lots from 1992-1994. He was a partner in the development of Sterlingwood Subdivision, Village on the Park retirement homes, development and construction of town homes, homes and residential lots in The Park Subdivision and partner and developer of Friendship Haven Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Skilled Nursing Home.
He has served on many committees and groups including the Community Appearance Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, St. John Hospital Advisory Board and is a director of HomeTown Bank N.A.
Ballard will be honored for his achievements at A True Blue Evening and will represent the Character Counts! trait of Fairness. The six honorees all represent one of the six traits and will be depicted with their trait on a Character Counts! poster placed in all classrooms in FISD for a year.
Ballard is a person whom others can always count on to do the right thing, both in his professional and personal life. He has dedicated himself by making Friendswood a place where people want to live, work and raise their families. |
