posted: February 23, 2009

The Varsity Color Guard has done it again. Two weeks ago they made FHS history and won the Houston WGI Regional. Recently, they won the Austin WGI Regional.

The Varsity Color Guard competed against 27 other groups, which include the best from Austin, Houston, and Dallas areas. Currently, the Varsity Color Guards score of 83.7 is one of the highest three scores in the country so far this year out of 198 groups in the class.

The girls are working toward the WGI National Championships in Dayton, Ohio this coming April. Out of a total of 44 groups at the contest, FHS had the highest score of any guard at the regional regardless of classification.

Members of the FHS Varsity Guard are Captains Adriana Beasley and Kassie Budzik, Lieutenant Sarah Sokorah, Nicole Weist, Danielle Hemphill, McKenna Woeltjen, Lindsey Williams, Caitlin Laird, Erin Brayley, Andrea Kahn, Alex Hemphill, Kourtney Deschner, and Emily Sharp.

The director of the guard is Ron Barnett. He is assisted by Brewster Petron.
