FHS programmers brought home the first place trophy for Area competition at the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) area contest held recently. The three included Chris Cotter, Andrew Wiley and Ben Braun.

Approximately 50 teams represented Region 4. FHS members swept the contest (finished all the programming problems) with about nine minutes to spare, according to FHS Sponsor Annette Walter.

Only one other team swept (Cy Woods, a 5-A team), but they finished five minutes after the FHS team finished. Coaches were able to watch the scores real-time from the coaches’ room.

“Our programmers and the Cy-Woods programmers were working on their last problem at the same time. It was a tremendous relief to witness our team finish up first!” Walter said.

The three from FHS will be going to the TCEA State competition in April to defend their title.
