News: Wranglerettes win at Crowd Pleasers Competition

On Valentine’s Day, the Friendswood Wranglerette Drill Team gave their hearts to their first competition of the year – the Crowd Pleaser’s West Houston Showcase hosted at Mayde Creek High School.  Not unlike prior years, the Wranglerettes gave an outstanding performance and returned with multiple trophies and awards.  

In the category of Solo Finalists, the winners include Erica Wilkins with First Place Senior Soloist / Finalist, Ashley Cupples with First Runner Up Senior Soloist / Finalist, Elizabeth Cotter with Second Runner Up Junior Soloist / Finalist,  Bianca Buentello with Fourth Runner Up Junior Soloist / Finalist, and Lexie Everett with Junior Solo Finalist.

In the category of Medium Ensembles, the Dream Ensemble placed as Winner and the Illusion Ensemble placed as 1st Runner Up.                                                      

In the category of Social Officers Dance, the Wranglerette Social Officers received the award for Best in Class and the Crowd Pleaser Award.

The Wranglerette Dance Officers with their outstanding performances received the following awards: Showcase Elite Winners Circle, Most Outstanding Large Team,  Super Sweepstakes, Best in Class in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Overall Technical Merit Award,  Outstanding Technique, and  Outstanding Choreography in Officer Jazz.

And finally, the Wranglerettes hard work, dedication and daily practices paid off as the team as a whole won the following awards: Highest Scoring Team of the Contest,  Highest Scoring Jazz, Pom, and Lyrical dances of the contest,  Showcase Elite Winners Circle,   Grand Champion Large Team, Super Sweepstakes Award, Best in Class in Large Team Jazz, Pom, Kick and Lyrical dances, Technique Award, and Choreography Award.

The Team is under the direction of Kara Baker, Director and Melissa Jones, Assistant Director.
