During morning sessions in the Ranch House (library), campers were led by Directors Inga Cain and Librarian Laura Trellue as they recited the camp pledge and sang some camp songs.
FHS cheerleaders taught students the camp cheer and special invited guests told stores and read books to the group.
During afternoon Campsite Gatherings in the corrals (pods A and B), students participated in lessons in TAKS writing skills, then reported to their assigned Bunkhouses for each day’s writing assignment.
To end each day, the students gathered once again in the Ranch House for closing activities. The week culminated on Friday afternoon with 12 campers reading one of their own stories to the entire group.
“Our students worked very hard, had a good time, and they learned a lot. And they were more motivated and had a more positive attitude towards the TAKS test, which is exactly what the camp was about,” Cain said.
