Eugenia Garcia presented Science in Art and potter/teacher Dennis LaValley used the art of clay pottery to demonstrate the potter’s wheel. LaValley teaches at Alvin Community College. He threw several pots and “tornadoes” for the children to enjoy.
Drama Character Study was presented by Marcia Hamm and local artist/teacher Betsy Miller discussed pastels. Miller had two young adult students also show their work from her studio to the young children.
Acree Carlisle used animal art to instruct.
Origami was the subject taught by Cline parent Stacy Pagel. From flamingoes to frogs to a variety of animal shapes, the art objects made from paper were varied.
Lee Steiner worked with the children on papermaking. Photographer Melanie Ellsworth taught photo tips to her audience.
Wanda Njaa taught quilting while her husband, Scott, presented the art of woodworking. Artist and former FISD teacher Leigh Ann Marx discussed storytelling, illustration and watercolors with her groups.
Embossing paper was taught by Shannon Wyatt, JoAnn Shoemaker, and Nathalie Sweeney.
Nitsana Lazerus with Young Audiences held a puppet show. Dance program Sol Street Dance Co. members performed for the students.
Rose Presley encouraged the students to try recycled art.
“We are so thankful to our area Fine Arts adults who share their expertise with the students,” Cline Principal Debbie Smith said. “It was a great day and our students learned so much. We want to thank all who came to help us on Fine Arts Day at Cline Elementary.” |
