The Friendswood High School Varsity Color Guard won the Scholastic A Division at the Texas Color Guard Circuit State Championships recently.
With a score of 90.1, they had the highest score of the entire contest, which includes mostly 5A school districts. (FISD is a 4A district.) This is the first time the FHS Varsity Color Guard has won this award. |

 The Varsity team is currently ranked #5 in the nation in their class as they head toward the Winter Guard International Championships April 1-2, in Dayton, Ohio.
The FHS Junior Varsity Color Guard also competed in the Scholastic Regional A division against 26 Varsity guards and was named State Runner Up.
The FJH Color Guard competed in the Cadet Class and was named State Runner Up.
The director is Ron Barnett assisted by Brewster Petron.
FHS Varsity Color Guard members include seniors Adriana Beasley, Kassie Budzik, Nicole Weist, and Danielle Hemphill; sophomores Sarah Sokora, McKenna Woeljen, Andrea Kahn, Lindsey Williams, Caitlin Laird, and Erin Brayley; freshmen Emily Sharp, Alex Hemphill, and Kourtney Deschner.
Friendswood Junior Varsity Color Guard members include junior Sarah Buerger; sophomore Torie Thomas; and freshmen Hannah Johnson, Hannah Spradlin, Amanda McGowan, Miranda Koehn, Audrey Sampson, Deana DeLosSantos, Samantha Weist, Krista Lutrick, and Meaghan Strauss.
Friendswood Junior High School seventh graders who competed include Daira Brayley, Michelle Martin, Jacy Brown, Sara Brown, Daphne Okoro, Kayla Davis, Courtney Pray, and Hayley Boswell. Eighth grade color guard include Bailey Woeltjen, Sarah Marr, Angie Puebla, Emily Mahon, Hannah Radliff, Rachel Slusky, Melanie Therault, Gabrielle Thornhill, Michaela Stanch, Hannah Radigan, Karmina Martinez, and Sarah Kiser.
