News: FHS Programming win at HP contest
posted: March 1, 2009

FHS programming members placed third in the novice category at the HP CodeWars competition recently.

Members Ryan Ham, Noah Kessler and Matt Mitchell received third place.

“This is quite an accomplishment for this team since they have never programmed together. They missed first place by only 5 points,” sponsor Annette Walter said.

Approximately 150 novice teams competed from all over the state.

HP CodeWars is a first-class computer programming competition for high school students. It is hosted on Hewlett-Packard's north Houston campus.

The CodeWars experience is unlike any other programming competition. The event successfully combines the high-tech HP environment with a wide range of programming challenges that provide an exciting, stimulating, and competitive environment.

Students enjoy pushing their limits in the competitive atmosphere. This is the ultimate high school computer programming competition in Texas, according to Walter.
