Westwood Elementary knitters received a special delivery from Minnesota author Julie Jerslid Roth recently, which included two signed copies of her book, Knitting Nell, one for Westwood’s library, another for club sponsor and counselor Barbara Gruener, and a special letter to club members.  Here is what she had to say:

Dear Barbara and all the wonderful knitters at Westwood:

First of all, I have to say, how fun it must be for you all to live in a city called Friendswood.  I loved typing that into my computer, and it made me feel all the more warmly toward you!

After hearing of your astounding knitting efforts via an email in January from Mrs. Gruener, I sent the video of KNIT ONE, SAVE ONE to my publishing house.  They loved knowing about you!  Though you were knitting for 'good' well in advance of coming to know Knitting Nell, it is completely wonderful that she has found some good company!

I commend you all on your services and KNOW that it will be a part of you as you move through your wonderful lives - whether it be knitting or some other charitable work.  The world needs your loving energies, and it fills my heart knowing that there are beautiful young people such as yourselves out there - such caring earth citizens!
