posted: March 27, 2009

What saddle will you choose? This is the question Westwood Elementary Round Up committee members have been asking the community as they plan for their major fundraiser April 18.

Various levels of giving will provide what is needed to put on an event that offers family fun and activities from 11 am to 5 pm on the campus at 506 W. Edgewood (FM 2351).

The top level of giving is the Corral Club at $1000. Corral Club members include The Grissom Family, Stanfield Properties, the Baggett Family, Houston Mosquito Control Systems, copy DR, Brock Insurance Group/Mark and Stephanie Brock, The Wine Man, Ready 4 Change, and Tyson Foods, Inc.

The Platinum Stetson ($750) members include the Rudell Family, Southwest Refractory of Texas, Inc., and Charles and Susan Kelly.

Friendswood Garden Center and Gulf Coast Equine and Pet Center along with Dr. Krishali Hoffman are Silver Spurs ($500).

The Gold Saddle ($25 to $499) includes the following members: Friendswood Police Department, Chara Christian Dance Academy, INEOS NOVA-Texas City, Texas First Bank, City of Friendswood Mayor David Smith, Michael G. Moore DDS, Paulson Photography, Shaun and Lee Revere, Space City Ice Station, Stonesthrow Center/Ed Stuart, Bonnie Siscoe School of Dance, Laura Rachita (Independent Consultant with the Pampered Chef,), Luna’s Mexican restaurant, Starmaker Discount Dance Wear, John and Julie McCullough, Randy K. The funds collected above and from the live and silent auction the day of Round Up will be used to fulfill the wish list put together by the campus principal. As a result of Round Up 2008, the PTO was able to supply the school with all items on their “wish list.” Last year’s items included the following: replacement of Mac Lab computers, document cameras (Elmos) for every classroom, playground equipment for their soccer field area, copier lease payments, literacy library funding for books, teacher needs, Mobile Computer Lab, and funds for special programs and events during the year.

This year’s list from Principal Lynn Hobratschk includes final Apple lease payment on laptops, adding new teacher laptops and recycling of laptops to make two mobile labs, software, character assemblies, leveled literacy library needs, copier lease,  grade level teams discretionary, and staff development training.
