News: FHS Athletes sign letters of intent

The Friendswood High School Athletic Department held a signing letters of intent event and several athletes who recently signed came with parents and coaches to share their news and take photos.

FHS Principal Mark Griffon, Superintendent Trish Hanks and Athletic Director Steve VanMeter were present to join in the photos and congratulate the athletes and their parents.

Allison Flake, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play golf for Stephen F. Austin State University.  She was joined at signing by Coach John Hext and parents Rick and Anita Flake of Friendswood.

Barrett Allen, FHS senior, recently signed a letter of intent to play football for University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton. He will be playing football with the Crusaders.  Allen is part of the All-State Academic Football Team 2008. Allen was joined at the signing by his mother, Debbie Allen, his coach and mentor Michael Lindsey.

Both Jon Kirk and Rhys O'Farrell, FHS seniors, signed letters of intent to play Lacrosse for Southwestern University. The two were joined at the signing by Coach Steven Kirk, Rhys' dad Drew O'Farrell. Kirk played in the position of attackman while O'Farrell palyed defensive midfielder.

Cody Bergeson, Friendswood High School senior, was named the Fightingest Mustang, an award for being involved in three sports and lettering in each: football, basketball and baseball. He was presented a large trophy.  He was joined by his mother, Principal Mark Griffon, Superintendent Trish Hanks, and Athletic Director Steve VanMeter.

Megan Carpenter, Friendswood High School senior, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Eastern New Mexico University. At FHS, Megan played volleyball and was involved in Business Professionals of America (BPA). Her parents are Corine and Keith Carpenter of Friendswood.
