News: Coat drive for K-5 Ike victims
posted: November 5, 2008

Gently used and new coats are needed for students in K-5 grades hit by Ike in the area. Friendswood High School wants to help and needs community assistance.

Coat DriveCCISD's Bay Elementary students and families were hit hard from Hurricane Ike. Many students lost everything. Counselors from FHS, working in conjunction with Patti Stockman, counselor from Bay Elementary, have determined a need for the 200 students who still attend Bay Elementary.

With the weather turning cooler, jackets or light weight coats will be needed for the students. Students from Bay Elementary range in ages from K-5th grade. FHS has set a goal of a jacket for each student at Bay Elementary.

Students, clubs and organizations at FHS will all be working toward reaching and meeting that goal before Thanksgiving.

Others can donate new or gently used jackets or coats for the students at Bay Elementary by bringing the jackets to the high school counseling center or drop them off at the FISD Administration Building. If you have questions please contact Debbie Woodson, at FHS at 281-482-3413.
