News:Wranglerettes honor seniors, dads
posted: October 6, 2008

Dads in Hawaiian shirts were definitely in fashion at the Mustang Varsity football home game against Texas City Sept. 26 where they were honored as parents and allowed to perform.

The Friendswood High School (FHS) Wranglerettes celebrated Senior Recognition night, and with it, the annual Wranglerette Father/Daughter dance.

Seniors 2008Each year, FHS recognizes the Senior Class at one of the football games.

“We have an outstanding senior class of 14 young ladies this year.  Their leadership through summer camps and the beginning of the year has been impressive,” Director Kara Baker said.   “We enjoy taking this opportunity to recognize them at this special time of their life and to thank them for being such an important part of our team.”

In addition to Senior Recognition night, at halftime, the Wranglerettes hosted a special performance with their favorite person – their dads.  The Wranglerettes half time show included the annual Wranglerette Father/Daughter dance.  This year’s dance theme was Hawaiian as the Father’s dressed in Hawaiian attire to the tune of Wipe Out.Bob & Sue

The crowd applauded enthusiastically as the dads displayed their form, technique and slick choreographed steps.

“What an entertaining dance routine it was for the audience,” Wranglerette Assistant Director Melissa Jones said. “Dancing with their fathers is a special Wranglerette tradition that creates memories that will last for years to come.  It is one of the highlights of the year for our Dads.”
