Maniac, the main character, spends the entire book in search for a home. In that light, teachers Jermaine Sonnier and Autumn Bockart thought it would be great to offer a service project to their students focused on serving Houston's homeless.
Early in the morning on September 27, students, parents and teachers met at Windsong and caravanned into Houston to help feed the homeless at Fishes and Loaves.
There were close to 45 students, parents and teachers that participated.
Students made goodie bags for the homeless, colored placemats for the tables, and then served the meal.
“The kids really embraced the whole experience. They were able to experience first hand the satisfaction that comes with serving others. It was a great day for all,” Sonnier said. |
