First responders following Hurricane Ike in Friendswood ISD were 38 members of the custodial staff and 19 maintenance employees. Damages to the six campuses and various departmental buildings were determined immediately following the hurricane and recovery began.

Clean up and repairs took a week of full time work that extended to the next week. It was due to the hard work and expertise in repair that got FISD ready to open last week on Sept. 24.

The superintendent and her administrative stafftreated the first responders and their supervisors to a luncheon where they were thanked by everyone for their work.

“It is truly teamwork that got us back on our feet. Once total power was restored, our campuses were in great shape to join. We again thank our wonderful custodial and maintenance staff for a job well done,” Superintendent Trish Hanks said.
