INTRODUCTION TO MEDIA TECHNOLOGY
(Tech Prep - ATC)

This course teaches the basic technical skills and the creative concepts required for production of video and other broadcast media projects. Students maintaining an 85 average in this course will be allowed limited MCS participation. REQUIRES SOME AFTER AND BEFORE SCHOOL PARTICIPATION. ENROLLMENT IN THE COURSE CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT TO FULFILL ALL CURRICULAR, CO-CURRICULAR, AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGY I
(Tech Prep - ATC)

Prerequisite: Intro to Media Technology, Written Application, Video Portfolio and Teacher Recommendation
Students enrolling in this class must have maintained an 85 average in Intro to Media Technology. In this class students will be responsible for the production of the MCS morning news show and some programming for the local cable channel and also study film analysis. Previously learned technical skills and media production concepts will be explored and expanded. Students will staff all crew positions and work independently on assigned projects. Introduction to computer graphics and animation on the Amiga computer will be an integral part of student training. This course requires a lot of self-motivation and individual initiative. FULL PARTICIPATION IN MCS REQUIRES AFTER AND BEFORE SCHOOL PARTICIPATION. ENROLLMENT IN THE COURSE CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT TO FULFILL ALL CURRICULAR, CO-CURRICULAR, AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGY II
(Tech Prep - ATC)

Prerequisite: Intro to Media Technology, Media Technology I, Written Application, Video Portfolio and Teacher Recommendation
Students will explore in depth areas of their particular career interest such as: movie/video producing, production, graphics and animation, and reporting. Individual "video" portfolios will be created. Students will rotate into a mentoring site. REQUIRES AFTER AND BEFORE SCHOOL PARTICIPATION. ENROLLMENT IN THE COURSE CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT TO FULFILL ALL CURRICULAR, CO-CURRICULAR, AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR REQUIREMENTS.

MEDIA TECHNOLOGY INDEPENDENT STUDY
(Tech Prep - ATC)
Grade: 12
Credit: 1/2
Prerequisite: Completion of at least two courses in Media Tech; Teacher Recommendation Required
A project-based learning experience developed by a student or group of students and an interdisciplinary mentor team. This course may be taken for 1/2 credit one semester or one credit if taken all year. The project provides opportunities for an in-depth study of at least one aspect of an industry in the trade and industrial program area. The student or group demonstrates the ability to utilize a variety of resources, advanced technology, and communications skills in the development and presentation of a project. This activity meets one of the Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) measures. REQUIRES AFTER AND BEFORE SCHOOL PARTICIPATION. ENROLLMENT IN THE COURSE CONSITUTUES AGREEMENT TO FULFILL ALL CURRICULAR, COCURRICULAR AND REQUIREMENTS. Students will be responsible for the production of the senior film.

WELDING I
(Can also count as college credit. See Tech Prep. - ATC)

Prerequisite: Application and Interview; Must Provide Own Transportation
This course provides the student with job skills in the following areas: electric arc welding, oxy/acetylene welding and brazing, basic layout and fabrication, and the development of good work habits. It prepares students to pass the entry level welding exams required for employment. Students must furnish appropriate work clothes to be left in the lab and their own transportation.
Students must register for Fall and Spring terms.

WELDING II
(Can also count as college credit. See Tech Prep. – ATC)

Prerequisite: Welding I; Must provide own transportation
This course provides the student with job skills in the following areas: advanced electric welding; SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding of late and pipe; advanced layout and fabrication; and development of self-motivated work skills and habits. Students must furnish their own transportation.
Students must register for Fall and Spring terms.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN TRAINING I
Grades: 11-12
Credit: 2
Prerequisite: Application and interview; Must provide own transportation
This course is occupational specific and is taught at College of the Mainland in their high-tech facility. It offers intensive training in the basic knowledge of scientific principles and of the high-tech components used in the automotive industry today (digital speedometers, turbo charged engines, electronic circuit boards for the fuel system, power locks, and air) through a combination of class and laboratory experiences. Safety is stressed through each phase of instruction. This course will be offered at the end of the day. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from College of the Mainland.

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN TRAINING II
Grades: 12
Credit: 2
Prerequisite: Auto Tech I; Must provide own transportation
This course is a continuation of Auto Technician I but also includes new concepts and innovations, new engine types, studies of antipollutant equipment on automobile engines, computerized engine analysis, and in-depth training on the automobile diesel engine.
This course is taught at College of the Mainland. Successful completion of both Auto Tech classes results in articulated credit at College of the Mainland. Safety is stressed through each phase of instruction. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from College of the Mainland.
