If you need insurance or if you would like supplemental coverage, it can be obtained through the school for a set fee by an independent insurance company. The optional policy is secondary unless primary insurance is nonexistent. The benefits received are related to the plan purchased. Complete information is available in a flyer, which can be picked up at the your campus. |

| Concussion Public Announcement |
Christus St. John Hospital Concussion Center
- Offers baseline ImPACT testing for athletes at Friendswood High School.
- The baseline test can be administered by the Athletic Trainers at the high school in the training room by appointment
- Works in conjunction with area physicians.
- Dr. John Cottingham currently oversees the concussion center.
- ImPACT test is used as a tool to determine how close a person is to their regular/normal cognitive functions.
- Athletic trainers take concussion management as a serious part of their job.
- Concussions can occur in any sport, not just football
According to the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch, “More than 5% of high school athletes are concussed each year from collision and contact sports.”
According to the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery, over 300,000 sports-related concussions occur annually. Of those, more than 62,000 are sustained in high school contact sports. |

College Coaches Network is a website where players can promote their game directly to college coaches.
*Each athlete can establish a personal profile on CCN (www.collegecoaches.net)
*Every profile can include up to 2 hours of media - which could include a highlight tape and / or several game tapes
*Each athlete can designate which colleges he wants his information sent to.
*Each athlete can track the schools and how many times they view his personal profile.
The staff at CCN will evaluate every video that is posted and those players will be added to the scouting report and distributed to over 500 Sub-D1 football programs at no charge.
Any athlete that signs up before October 15 will receive his first three months free. All they need to do is use the designated promo code: RRTX2008. |
