The Piano Lady Pit Band Scholarship was established in 2000, by Jim and Laurie Purcell to be presented to a Friendswood High School student who has participated in the pit band for two or more FHS musicals. The scholarship is named in memory of Ken Arnold, father of Laurie Purcell (musical accompanist for eight years). Mr. Arnold was an accomplished trumpet player and attended the FHS musicals during the time his grandchildren participated in the musical. Both of the Purcell children participated in the musical during their high school careers. Jake (‘98) worked on the light and sound crew for four years and Katie (‘01) participated in four musicals. |
