Career Tech programs had an amazing competitive year as well! Our medical students sent 18 students to State HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) contest. They will be sending three students on to National Competition this summer for additional competitive opportunities. Our engineering students also had a great competitive year with TSA (Technology Students of America). They had 23 State Qualifiers and will send eight students to Nationals this summer! Our marketing students had two State Qualifiers in the DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) competition. BPA (Business Professionals of America) had six students compete at State Contest and 3 students qualified to compete at the National BPA Competition, with one of our students placing 4th out of 70 competitors! Our Friendswood FFA was quite busy this year competing in leadership contests and also many livestock shows throughout the state. They attended Ft. They will participate in leadership training at the State FFA conference this summer and are looking forward to another outstanding year next year. Our FCCLA (Family Career & Community Leaders of America) sent an impressive seven students to their State Contest. Our Skills USA chapter resumed film competitions this year and shot straight to the top! They had eight students qualify for State Contest and had two of those students qualify to compete at Nationals in June. The film/MCS program also received an impressive award for their filming of “Shattered Dreams 2010.” Additionally, in Technology Applications, four of our computer science students won first place at UIL for the fourth straight year! This is an unrivaled accomplishment!

Your efforts have given the administration, faculty and staff reason to celebrate with you in the classroom and in the competitive arena. We are proud to say we work with some of the finest young people you will find anywhere. The class of 2011 will be remembered for their many accomplishments and the leadership they provided in every area at FHS. Now, we turn to the class of 2012 and ask them to step forward, assume the leadership role and guide the classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015 to an even greater year as we continue to raise the bar. We have much to look forward to as we strive for excellence and build on the previous year’s success. The future is in your hands. We know the class of 2011 leaves a legacy of champions, never being satisfied with anything less than their best. Next year, we look forward to all working together to continue the tradition of excellence. |
