- COMPASS
- Also available to FHS students and families
is an evening college and career-planning program called COMPASS. COMPASS is offered for a twice a year, once in the fall
and once in the spring - for 6 weeks at a time on Thursday evenings
5-9 pm. Students and families may come research information relevant
to their individual college and career search. In addition to
all the information on colleges and careers that we have available
during the day, we also have interest and aptitude testing and
personality assessments that students can take as they explore
the direction they want to pursue following graduation. COMPASS resources include databases of current college and career information,
scholarship and financial aid information, and Internet access.
Direct assistance with the application processes can be obtained.
Counselors and support staff assist students and families as
needed, and participants are free to come and go as it fits individual
schedules during COMPASS hours.

- Job Shadowing
- All senior students at FHS have the opportunity
to job shadow a professional in a career of their choice during
their senior year. These experiences are developed tailored to
individual interests of the student. Interested students apply
for this experience through the Career Support Center, and an
individual mentor is arranged for every student on an assigned
day. At that time, the student shadows their mentor in the workplace.
(This experience does not count as an absence against the student).
Past experiences for our students have included the fields of
accounting and engineering, law and medicine, business and architecture,
music and theatre, and many more. See Mrs. Mulder or Mrs.Wells
for further information.

- Scholarship
and Financial Aid Information
- The Career Support Center disseminates scholarship
information on campus. We receive information from hundreds of
organizations. While most scholarship organizations target juniors
and/or seniors, some are available to younger students as well.
All FHS students are welcome to come by and get familiar with
the scholarship board. We maintain this large board of information
organized by scholarship criteria, amount of the award, and the
due date. Details and full applications are available in a file
cabinet located directly in front of the scholarship board. Students
with questions, or needing assistance may ask for Mrs. Mulder,
Career Tech Director or Mrs. Heintz, the Career Support Center
Assistant.
- ***Many of the scholarships require transcript
copies. Students may order these from the Registrar's office
located next to the Career Support Center
