REGISTRATION
RESIDENCY
Students must be residents of Friendswood ISD in order to attend FISD schools. Proof of residency must be provided to the campus registrar at the time of registration. Proof includes a current utility bill or lease agreement with name of parent / guardian and physical address. Any person who knowingly falsifies information on a form required for a student's enrollment in the District shall be liable to the District for full tuition if the student is not eligible for enrollment. Presenting a false document or record under Section 21.0313 of the Texas Education Code is an offense under Section 37.10, Penal Code. Students found to be residing outside of the District's boundaries will be immediately withdrawn from school.

August 19 - Packet pick-up
August 20 - 12th grade 9:00 - 11:00 / 10th grade 1:00-3:00
August 21 - 11th grade 9:00 - 11:00 / 9th grade 1:00 - 3:00, 6:30 -7:30,
7:30 - mandatory parent meeting for freshman

NEW-TO-DISTRICT STUDENT REGISTRATION
 (does not include incoming 9th graders from FJH)*

Early New-to-District Student Registration:  Only for students with established proof of residency
and no special guardianship arrangements. We will not register students with pending residency or special guardianship arrangements until our August registration dates.

May 5-June 10: Pick up registration paperwork and sign up for appointment in the FHS Counseling Center - 8:00 am-4:00 pm.

June 11: Early Registration day (by appointment only)--bring completed paperwork along with  the required documents for your assigned appointment.  Appointment times are 9:00-11:00 am and 1:00-2:30 pm.

August  19-21:Return for registration (along with returning students) and a mandatory parent meeting** (see Aug. 21 below).

Regular New-to-District Student Registration:

Aug. 6-11: Pick up registration paperwork & sign up for registration appointment in the FHS Counseling Center - 8:00 am-4:00 pm.

Aug.12,13,18: New student registration (by appt. only)--bring completed paperwork with the required documents for your assigned appointment.  Appointment times are 8:30-11:00 am and 1:00-3:00 pm.

August 21: Registered new students and freshmen can come early for pictures & IDs from 1:00-3:00 pm and at 6:30 pm for pictures, IDs, forms & fees.

** Mandatory parent meeting for registered new students & freshmen at 7:30 pm in the FHS auditorium—schedules are handed out after the meeting.

Late New-to-District Student Registration:

August 6-22: Pick up registration paperwork & sign up for registration appointment in the FHS Counseling Center - 8:00 am-4:00 pm

August 25: First day of school--there will be no new student registration on this day.

August 26-29: New student registration (by appt. only)--bring completed paperwork with the required   documents for the assigned appointment.  Appointment times are 9:00-11:00 am and 1:00-3:00 pm

*  Note:  Incoming 9th graders from Friendswood Jr. High are not considered “New-to-the-District” students--they will participate in the returning student registration August 19-21 as listed at the top of the page.           (Rev 8/08)

 

ITEMS NEEDED FOR REGISTRATION
The following items are necessary for registration:
  1. Proof of residency (Closing documents, lease agreement [signature of the leasee and property owner], or utility bill)
  2. Previous report card
  3. Student's social security card
  4. Immunization records (MUST have at time of registration)
  5. Most recent grade transcript (if not on withdrawal form)

The State of Texas, Texas Board of Health and the local school board require the following immunizations (High School levels only):
Required Documents
(originals and copies)
1. Proof of Residency (utility bill showing name and current date, i.e., light bill, water bill, Entex bill, lease contract)
2. Original State Birth Certificate (no hospital certificate)
3. Child's Social Security Card
4. Immunization record showing the following:
 
DPT (Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus): At least three (3) doses of DPT, DT, and/or Td vaccines are required, provided at least one dose has been received on or after the fourth birthday. Children under 7 years old, five doses unless 4th dose was given on or after 4th birthday. In addition, a DT or Td vaccine booster must have been received within the past 10 years.

POLIO: At least three (3) doses of oral Polio vaccine (OPV) are required, provided at least one does has been received on or after the fourth birthday.

RUBEOLA: ((Measles) Two (2) doses, one being on or after the first birthday. The second dose must be received by age 5 years or before entry into kindergarten.

MUMPS: One (1) dose of vaccine received on or after the first birthday.

RUBELLA: One (1) does of vaccine received on or after the first birthday.

HEPATITIS B: Three (3) doses are required.

VARICELLA (Chickenpox): One (1) dose of Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccine on or after the 1st birthday OR documentation of previously having the illness.

***The day, month, and year of vaccine administration must be recorded on all new school records.

THE ABOVE IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BEFORE A STUDENT WILL BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER SCHOOL.

The above immunization requirements must be met BEFORE an F.H.S. STUDENT will be allowed to attend school.
 
TRANSFERS

FISD does not accept transfer students who do not reside within district boundaries unless the student becomes a non-resident during the course of the semester or during their 11th grade year. Families who have an executed contract to build or purchase a residence in FISD may attend on a tuition basis. Refer to FISD Board Policy FDA Local for more details.

Students transferring from another school MUST withdraw from that school before being enrolled at Friendswood High School. Documentation that must be provided to the registrar at FHS follows:

1. Proof of residence within FISD boundaries (current utility bill for water, electricity or gas; active lease or closing documents for new home ONLY)
2. Final report card and/or transcript from previous school
3. Withdrawal form from previous school (except during summer)
4. Current immunization record
5. Social Security card
6. Birth certificate
7. Parent or guardian's driver's license.

In addition, any students living apart from parents or families living with district residents must present properly notarized documents stating their intentions. Notarizable documents and Limited Powers of Attorney are available in the Counseling Center.

Due to high volumes of student entry and withdrawal at the beginning of each semester (August and January), an appointment to enroll is required. Please call 281-482-3413, X-211 for an appointment.
