Child Find for Special Education Screening by FISD
The Friendswood Independent School District conducts screenings
for any pre-school child ages 3 through 5suspected of having
a disability. Screenings are conducted at both Cline Elementary
and Westwood Elementary.
The District also has programs serving older students with
disabilities. If you suspect your child has a disability, contact
your child's school counselor or Karen Deshotel, Executive Director
of Special Programs at 281-482-0687. If there is evidence a disability
may exist, the District will screen and perform student evaluations
as needed. Home-schooled students who live within the district
or students who attend a private school within the boundaries
of FISD are eligible for screening and possible evaluation and
may qualify for educational services provided by the District.
FISD Child Find for Section 504, Dyslexia, ESL and Gifted
Programs
The Friendswood Independent School District conducts screenings
for children living within the FISD boundaries who are suspected
of having a disability under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation
Act. The District also conducts screenings and provides services
to students who meet eligibility criteria for the following programs:
English as a Second Language (ESL), dyslexia, and gifted. For
