PRINCIPALS

Dana Drew, Principal
I am a native Houstonian and graduated from Milby High School in 1970. Upon graduation, I attended San Jacinto Junior College for a year before transferring to Stephen F. Austin. While at SFA I studied Health and Physical Education and earned my Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1977 I was hired to teach and coach at Friendswood Junior High. After teaching at FJH I went to Friendswood High where I became the head boy's basketball coach. I completed my Masters of Science in 1989 and went to Alvin High School as an assistant principal. I was later named Principal in 1993. In 1998 I moved my family to Grapevine, Texas to become the Principal of Grapevine High School. After 7 great years at GHS, I retired to help care for my ailing father and enter the consulting world.
While I was at SFA I met a wonderful young lady named Trisha who was also entering the field of education. We married in 1975 and have been blessed with 2 sons, Dustin (26) and Cody (23). Trisha taught for many years in Pearland ISD and Friendswood ISD before we moved to Grapevine. She finished her teaching career this year and is enjoying working part time. My sons and I enjoy sports of all kinds and spend many days in the woods hunting deer and hogs.
Coming back to Friendswood is just a great experience for our entire family and we look forward to many successful years. ~Dana Drew

Fletcher Weston, Assistant Principal
I moved here from Redding, Ca. about fourteen years ago and began my career in education at Friendswood Jr. High as a special education teacher.  I taught at Friendswood Jr. High and Windsong Intermediate as a special education teacher for eleven years, and I am currently beginning my third year as an assistant principal here at FJH.  FISD has been a fantastic place to serve, and I have made many life-long friends along the way.
My successes at FISD would not have been possible without the support of my wife and H.S. sweetheart Leanne.  Together, we have three great children.  My oldest daughter has recently graduated and enlisted in the Navy.  She is scheduled to go to boot Camp Feb. of 2011, and we could not be more proud of her.  My youngest daughter, Brittany, is a junior at Clear Brook H.S. and a kidney transplant survivor. She has taught her mom and me how to endure in times of trouble and is one of the most courageous people I know.  Finally, there is Lil’ Fletch, our three-year-old surprise.  He keeps the house interesting and Leanne and I on our toes.
It has been my privilege to work with the exceptional people here at FISD for the past thirteen years.  Our district takes great pride in our student successes, and it is an honor to serve in such a wonderful community.

Diane Jones, Assistant Principal
I have lived most of my life in Northwest Houston, after moving here with my parents when I was two years old. After graduating from Waltrip High School in 1985, I attended Stephen F. Austin State University.  While attending SFA, I met my future husband, Mike.  After taking a break from school to work in the public sector and to get married, I returned to school and graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and English.  At this time, we were living in Lufkin, Texas, where I began teaching in an elementary school.  During the 10 years in which I taught for Lufkin, I had the opportunity to return to SFA to earn my Master of Science in Mathematics degree and my principal certificate. I then accepted a position in Nacogdoches ISD as a curriculum specialist.  After two successful years there, Mike and I decided we wanted to move our two daughters, Katherine and Sara, to a school district that is known for excellence. Fortunately, Friendswood ISD was that place.  My family has endured the move and we are currently getting settled into the community that we have chosen to call home.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my first two years at FISD and look forward to many more.
