Earlier this year, the science classes participated in a great
conservation project from Earth Foundation by selling t-shirts
to save the rainforest. Because of your efforts, FJH is nationally
recognized by the Nature Conservancy for adopting and protecting
54.6 acres in one of nature's last great places. The Osa Peninsula
in Costa Rica!!!! That's double what we were able to save last
year. Mrs. Gibb's classes were the top sellers for the entire
school!!! Way to go Mavericks!!! And huge congratulation goes
out to all of you who contributed to this awesome achievement.
You should be proud!!! A big thanks goes out to all of the
science teachers and their efforts to motivate students in order
to make this happen. Your enthusiasm about this project is how
it all begins!

Attention all 7th grade boys' basketball players if you played
on the A or B team, please meet in Coach Dalton's room immediately
after announcements. Teachers please allow for them to come into
the room and they will stay in there for all of advisory. Once
again, all 7th grade boys' basketball players both A and B teams
please meet in Room 29 after announcements,
Congratulations to the faculty who destroyed the students
last night by the final of 845 to 55. The faculty was led in
scoring by Coach Robeau who muscled in a dozen points, Coach
McGhee whose shot was hitting late in the game had 10 points
to increase the lead. Coach Garcia who found his inner John Stockton
led the team with assists and also hit a few huge 3 pointers
shots. Coach Dalton, who led the team in fouls chipped in with
9 points. The game ball though goes to Coach McKeever who was
sipping out of the fountain of youth and made some tough shots,
including 2 three-pointers in a row and several assists in a
5 minute span to take the lead from the 8th graders and the faculty
would never trail again. Between writing office referrals, Principal
Cappadona dominated the paint and intimidated the students with
his great shooting, sharp elbows and rebounding. The funniest
moment last night was when Coach Kidd shot for the students,
luckily he missed, or else he would've been shipped back to Texas
A&M. Coach Holt showed his Extreme Fighting Skills as he
worked like Kevin Garnett in the low post, the guy is just plain
nasty. Coach Hrabovsky played a few tough minutes along with
Coach Givens they both used their massive upper and lower body
strength to get some clutch rebounds. Luckily, no injuries for
the teachers, every teacher had some kind of brace on last night
and are probably sore today, make sure to congratulate them.
The boys teams was led by Jared Gaspard and Matthew Morris who
could not miss last night but the 8th grade boys ran out of gas
late in the game as the faculty continue their winning streak
against the 8th grade teams.
Come and join us on Thursday as our faculty this time turns their
attention to the 8th grade girls' volleyball team. Should be
a great time at FJH on Thursday. Come out and cheer on your teachers
as they look to spike the ball to victory, see you there.

This week we are celebrating Fire Wall Internet Safety
Week.
Today we are celebrating FireWall Internet Safety Week! Even
though we have been talking about the problems associated with
being on the Internet, we don't want to forget all the great
things it offers. The Internet can take us places we could never
go and it allows us to meet people we could never meet in real
life. Its vast resources far surpass any libraries we could ever
visit. We could hardly do without it and get along in today's
society.
So let's have fun and enjoy some of what the Internet has
to offer today!

This week we are celebrating Fire Wall Internet Safety
Week.
Today's topic for FireWall Internet Safety Week is Cyberbullying.
Internet bullying is not much different from bullying in the
real world, except that cyberbullies can hide behind a computer
instead of having to be face to face. A bully is someone who
is mean and cruel and picks on someone they perceive to be weak.
The Internet gives them a way to send cruel emails and Instant
Messages or post untrue comments and blogs about people that
everyone can see. Sometimes you know who it is, sometimes you
don't.
If you are ever in a situation where you feel that someone
on the Internet is being mean or spreading lies about you or
anyone else, you must tell your parents. You cannot stop
it by yourself and it is not OK to let it continue.
Remember Keep your FireWall ON whenever you are on the
Internet.

This week we are celebrating Fire Wall Internet Safety
Week.
Today's topic for FireWall Internet Safety Week is Communication.
An essential function of today's society is being able to communicate
with friends, family, co-workers and the business community.
There are many modes of communication available in today's digital
world. Email, Instant Messaging, Blogs, Text Messaging and Chat
Rooms allow us the ability to correspond, collaborate and communicate
with people all over the world, quickly and efficiently.
However, there are drawbacks. First of all, you do not always
know who you are dealing with. Unfortunately, not everyone is
truthful about their identity. Secondly, because people can remain
anonymous, they may say things that are mean or untrue. Another
problem is that it is very easy for people to send spam and inappropriate
materials through the Internet and you may receive things you
have not asked for.
When you are talking, chatting or IM-ing, use good manners
and common sense. Talk to your parents if you see something you
know is not right.
Remember Keep your FireWall ON whenever you are communicating
on the Internet.
