Your kids probably updated you on the excitement we had at school yesterday, but in case they didn't, here's the scoop.

We had a fire flare up with one of our frying units in the cafeteria kitchen around 11:15 am on Tuesday. The flare up caused minor damage to a ventilation hood and smoke concentrated in the kitchen, but there were no other issues to report. Lots of excitement with the fire department here, but fortunately, none of the cafeteria staff were injured.

Since we were unable to serve lunch in the cafeteria, we had to create an alternate schedule and run three lunch periods through the snack bar. Everyone received lunch, some just a little later than usual! The kids were so well behaved while they waited patiently outside for the all-clear signal, and the flexibility of our teaching staff was a tremendous asset.

Reminder - Friday is our Career and Health Fair Day for all students. The kids will follow an alternate schedule for the day and have opportunities to hear about various career choices, as well as ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Our thanks to our parents and community partners for volunteering time to share their expertise with our students. Also, our thanks go out to Jennifer Reed, 8th grade counselor, and Jeanelle Moser, our school nurse, for coordinating this event.
