Dear Parents,
The TAKS test will be administered next Wednesday to all students. Our 8th grade students will be taking the Reading TAKS test, while our 7th grade students will take the Writing TAKS test. Student Success Initiative
All 8th grade students must pass the reading
and math tests in order to be promoted to the
9th grade. The students will receive two
opportunities within the school year and a
third opportunity during the summer to show
proficiency in these areas.
Rest and Breakfast
In order to ensure that your child is ready
for long day of testing, please make sure
they receive adequate rest the night before
and eat a hearty breakfast the day of
testing. If breakfast is difficult to
accomplish at your house, please be aware
that our cafeteria services will be offering
a wide variety of breakfast choices for your
child. Breakfast is served from 7:55 - 8:25
each morning. Snacks will be provided to all
students during testing.
Lunches
No lunch deliveries will be
made on testing day, March 5. Please
understand that we will have a limited number
of staff members to address such issues,
since most of us will either be testing
students, relieving teachers, or monitoring
the testing site. If your child should
forget their lunch, they will be provided a
lunch that day from the cafeteria. We
appreciate your cooperation and understanding
regarding this matter.
Cell Phones
Friendswood ISD prohibits all communication
devices from the testing rooms during TAKS
testing. Teachers will remind students of
the policy at the start of testing and give
students an opportunity to turn over their
phone, without consequences, at that time.
The phone will be returned to the student at
the end of testing. For more details, please
refer to the memo that was attached to your
child's progress report.
This Friday will be a sad day at Friendswood Junior High because Ms. Seybert, our receptionist, will be leaving the school district. Ms. Seybert and her husband are moving to Porter, Texas. Carol has been an integral part of the FJH family for the past nine years and we will miss her dearly. Our new receptionist will be training this week with Carol. Please join me in welcoming Brianne Golz, as the newest member of the FJH family. As always, we are here for you. ![]() Go Mustangs
