COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Welcome to FISD Community Education!
When you call or visit the office, one of these ladies will gladly assist you.

Leanna Bridgett
Community Education Director
Pat Moore
Community Education Assistant
Office Location
The Community Education office is now located in the FISD Administration Annex, 402 Laurel Drive, the main building of the old junior high school. The mailing address, however, remains 302 Laurel Drive. Current office hours are posted in the latest Community Education brochures.
FISD Community Education hosted a "New Office Open House" at the start of the 2011 fall semester. It's purpose was two-fold: to introduce the community to the new location of the office and to honor the hundreds of teachers, administrators and volunteers whose collective effort has resulted in our successful Community Education Programs. Hands with the names of current and previous Community Ed teachers, Directors, and Coordinators covered two walls outside the Community Education office.

Do you have a talent or skill you’d like to share?  We’re always interested in new ideas and would like to offer additional classes in areas such as Faux Finishes, Fine and Fiber Arts, Quilting, Sign Language, Simple Home and Auto Maintenance/Repairs, Tai Chi and others.  Call the Community Education Office, 281-482-6000 for information, applications and recommendations.  Our goal is to bring people together who want to share learning experiences with one another.  Residence in Friendswood is not required to take or teach our classes.

About Community Education
Friendswood I.S.D. offers the Community Education program as a public service to residents of Friendswood and the surrounding communities.

Community Education offers three sessions of education, enrichment, and recreation classes each year, and residence in Friendswood I.S.D. is not required to either take or teach our classes. The fall and spring sessions serve children and adults of all ages through classes offered at Friendswood High School and other local sites. The summer session is typically held during the month of June and serves school age youths through a program of daytime classes at an elementary or intermediate school campus.

Friendswood Community Education has an Advisory Council of 10-15 members who support the program. The Council meets 3-4 times per year to plan future projects, classes, and partnerships. Members of the Council represent numerous school, community, and business interests.

Many members have recently retired from the Advisory Council.  If you would like to serve the community in this way, please call us at 281.482.6000.
