OF PROFESSIONAL RESOURCES |
 |
Purpose: To provide access to information and resources that
are relevant to teachers' and administrators' educational and
professional development needs.
Information
Literacy Concept Grid: Developing
literacy includes learning to navigate the huge amount of information
available to us today in electronic as well as print form. Students
must learn to discriminate in choosing authoritative, accurate,
current and relevant resources. They are encouraged to become
sophisticated readers, as well. FISD librarians select the best
resources possible, based on particular curriculum needs and
essential skill requirements. Teachers, administrators, staff
and parents are encouraged to use the libraries often for their
own professional needs, and to be aware of the constantly changing
look of the research process.

Copyright
Information: Copyright law becomes
more complicated as more new technologies that deliver information
are developed. The law becomes particularly confusing when educators
attempt to apply "Fair Use" policy. Here is an excellent

plagiarism detection service called turnitin.com, which may be
used by any high school teacher. Please link to the libraries'
web pages for more information. All pages except the FHS &
