In an effort to make Westwood a warm and welcoming
place to our newcomers, the Let's Include New Kids (L.I.N.K.)
program lifted off with a special Reader's Theater on Wednesday
during Character Counts! week.
Students who started
at school at Westwood after Labor Day were invited to spend time
getting to know our administrators. Mr. Whitlock learned all
of their names and visited with them a bit before Mrs. Gruener
read them the new Sam Bratney book entitled You Are All My Favorites,
ensuring each one of them that they are now all her favorites.
Mrs. Hobratschk then shared with them a story about conquering
their fears entitled Big Chickens by Leslie Helakowski to let
them know that if ever they feel scared or insecure, Westwood
faculty and staff are here to support and encourage them. We
are so glad that our new students are here and we embrace them
as important members of our Westwood family!
