NSOC Site Visit Success

Friday, April 4th, was a special day for our character building because we welcomed two site visitors from the National School of Character committee.

Richard Puppione and Kathy Perini, both character educators from California, spent the day at Westwood to see if we merit a spot in the top 10 schools nationally for our character-education efforts. Our guests talked with many people and visited many classrooms throughout the day. A special thanks to our student tour guides - Chanse, Elaina, Ryan, Cannon, Catherine, Erin, Juanita, and Nicholas - for assisting with the visit.

Thank you to all of the stakeholders who joined us for our community meeting with the NSOC visitors. We were affirmed by your personal anecdotes and positive feedback. Thanks, too, to Penny Burke and her two friends for the tasty working luncheon that they provided for our Character Crew.

We will know before school breaks for the summer if we have been selected as a top 10 school, whereby earning the title of National School of Character. Top 10 or Top 25, we're determined to continue dynamically shaping the hearts and minds of tomorrow's leaders for the future.
