Round 'em Up
Under beautiful blue skies and soft marshmallow
clouds, Westwood's 6th annual Round Up Carnival went off Saturday
without a hitch. Countless hours of preparation went into this
one-day fundraising event to make it run so seemingly effortless,
as if on its own.
Janet Banfield, our Round Up Chairperson,
opened up the live auction around 1:00 p.m. after an hour and
a half of entertainment which included dance performances by
the Fillies and live music from the Westwood Friends and Family
Pep Band.
The silent auction loaded with amazing items,
the tasty food courtesy of the Lighthouse Cooking Team and the
Knights of Columbus, and the entertaining attractions kept carnival-goers
busy from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The dunking booth sported
athletes from the FHS La Crosse team, the FHS Cheerleaders, and
some brave Westwood alumni who now attend FJH.
And the highlight of the afternoon? Finding
out if your ticket was one of the lucky winners for the 34 theme-baskets
that were raffled off. Proceeds from this year's event will be
used to replace computers in Mac Lab I, buy ELMO document cameras
for the classrooms, update playground equipment for our soccer-field
area, pay for our copier lease, and purchase a mobile computer
lab.
We thank everyone who donated items to our
event, everyone who volunteered to work at Round Up, everyone
who attended our carnival, and most especially the PTO leaders
who worked so diligently to make this day such an incredible
success.
