First graders at
Westwood, clad in their PJs complete with slippers and bathrobes,
climbed on board the Polar Express on Friday as a culmination
of their unit studying Holidays Around the World. Students were
issued golden tickets to enter the cafeteria where they viewed
Chris VanAllsburg's holiday tale come alive on the big screen.
Just like in the movie, the little passengers were treated to
hot chocolate (yes, the marshmallow kind) for the ride.
A quick visit from
Santa and a special delivery from the North Pole - bells and
letters from the big guy himself - completed their experience
and set Christmas in motion for all who believe. What a magical
day, the kind dreams of made of. . . . . good thing that the
students were in their pajamas! Sweet dreams sweet students.
