There's a "new wall in town"
at Westwood. What used to be "Pride Cafe" has now
become "Character Court." And what used to look like
a scene from Paris, now has become a scene from the Old West.
This came about when a grandparent came to visit his grandson
at the Pride Cafe last spring. While waiting for Connor Stailey
to arrive for a lunch visit, Mr. Bob Sullivan began envisioning
a new "look" for Westwood kids to view. In keeping
with the Westwood Colts theme, he quickly sketched an old Western
town with a barbershop, mercantile store, and post office. The
windows of those buildings reflect cowboys on horses coming in
from their cattle rustlin' to meet in the town. There's even
a cat on a windowsill eyeing a mouse who is sneaking down to
the food barrel.
Mr. Sullivan spent innumerable
summertime hours to get the newly designed wall ready for this
year's incoming students. Finishing touches were completed recently,
with his signature finalizing the project. Westwood is immensely
grateful for Mr. Sullivan's creative work, which he donated,
all in the interest of seeing young children smile. When families
come to the Character Court, they observe volunteerism and service
in action - Mr. Sullivan's inspiration turned into a colorful
mural for all to enjoy!
